When Claude suddenly stops working, people want one thing first: a clear answer. Today, that answer changed fast. Anthropic’s official status page shows there was a real service problem on April 15, 2026, affecting Claude.ai, the API, and Claude Code.
But the latest official update now says the incident has been resolved, and the status page currently shows all systems operational. Last checked at 2:11 p.m. ET and 11:11 a.m. PT.
What Happened to Claude Today
Anthropic first reported increased errors at 14:53 UTC. A little later, at 15:40 UTC, the company posted a stronger update saying Claude.ai and Platform were down, and that Claude Code login through Claude.ai was not working.
That is an important detail because it confirms this was not just a small bug on one page. It was a wider outage across key Claude services.
Anthropic then said the Claude API had fully recovered as of 8:01 PT, which was 16:01 UTC, while the team kept working on ongoing Claude AI errors.
In that same update, Anthropic said Claude Code users who were already logged in could still use it, but logging in was still broken. Later, at 16:29 UTC, the company said login success rates had stabilized, and it was working to fully resolve the issue. The final update came at 17:42 UTC, when Anthropic marked the incident resolved.
Is Claude Working Again?
Right now, not officially. Based on Anthropic’s status page, Claude is no longer listed as down. The page shows all systems operational, including Claude.ai, platform.claude.com, the Claude API, and Claude Code.
That means the best official answer at the moment is this: Claude had a real outage earlier today, but Anthropic says the issue is now fixed.
That matters because many people check a chatbot, refresh twice, and assume the problem is only on their side. In this case, the official record says otherwise. There was a confirmed outage, and it touched several parts of the Claude system.
So if you saw errors, failed logins, or pages that would not load earlier today, that lined up with what Anthropic itself reported.
What Parts of Claude Were Impacted
The official updates make the impact fairly clear. Claude.ai was affected. Platform access was affected. Claude Code login through Claude.ai was affected.
The API also saw problems, though Anthropic later said the API had fully recovered before the rest of the incident was fully closed. That means some parts of Claude came back sooner than others.
This is useful because it helps separate a full outage from a smaller issue. If the site would not open, that matched the official incident. If API calls started working again before the web app felt normal, that also matched the official timeline Anthropic posted.
What to Do If Claude Still Isn’t Working?
Start with the official status page, not random posts. That page is where Anthropic logs live incidents, updates, and resolutions.
Right now, it shows the incident as resolved. It also offers official update subscriptions by email, text, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and webhook, which is useful if you need fast alerts when Claude has another problem.
If the status page is green and Claude still does not work for you, the safest next step is to use Claude’s official support site.
