Apple TV feels much larger now than it did a few years ago. It is no longer just the place people link with a few hit shows. Apple has turned it into a wider home for original series, films, and live sports, while also making the name easier to remember.
Apple TV+ is now simply Apple TV, with a refreshed identity, and that small name change says a lot about where the service is going.
What Apple TV Costs Right Now
Apple lists Apple TV at $12.99 per month after a seven-day free trial for new subscribers. The service is also part of Apple One, and Apple says people who buy an Apple TV 4K can get Apple TV free for three months when eligible. Family sharing is another useful part of the deal, since one Apple TV subscription can be shared with up to five family members.
That matters because the service is not built around one type of viewer. One home might use it for weekly dramas, another for comedies, another for baseball, and another for big movie nights. The price makes more sense when more than one person in the house uses it.
The Show Lineup Has Real Weight
Apple TV has a strong list of Apple Originals, including “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” “Slow Horses,” “Ted Lasso,” “Shrinking,” “Hijack,” “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” and “The Gorge.” Apple says new releases arrive weekly, which helps keep the library from feeling still.
The next few months also look busy. “Unconditional” arrives May 8, 2026, with its first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through June 19. “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed” starts May 20, with Tatiana Maslany and Jake Johnson leading the 10-episode season. “Star City,” a new drama tied to the world of “For All Mankind,” begins May 29, with weekly episodes through July 10.
Ted Lasso Gives Fans a Date
One of the biggest names on the service is coming back. Apple says “Ted Lasso” season four premieres Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with one episode at launch and new episodes every Wednesday through October 7. Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted, and the season puts him back at Richmond, this time coaching a second-division women’s football team.
That return gives Apple TV a clear fan favorite for late summer. It also gives people who left after earlier seasons a reason to check back in.
Sports Are Now a Bigger Part of the Deal
Apple TV is leaning hard into live sports. Apple says subscribers can watch Friday Night Baseball with two MLB matchups each Friday during the regular season. In 2026, Apple TV also adds every Major League Soccer match and every Formula 1 Grand Prix, including practice, qualifying, Sprint sessions, and races where available.
Apple also announced a five-year Formula 1 partnership, with all races coming exclusively to Apple TV in the United States beginning in 2026. Select races and all practice sessions will be available for free in the Apple TV app during the season.
Where You Can Watch
Apple TV is not locked to Apple hardware. Apple says the app works across Apple devices, smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, Android mobile devices, Windows devices, select cable boxes, and the web at tv.apple.com. Apple Support also says users can install the Apple TV app from a compatible device’s app store, then sign in through a QR code, web link, or remote.
Is Apple TV Worth Paying For?
Apple TV makes the most sense for homes that want polished original shows, a growing sports slate, and easy sharing across devices. The best value comes when more than one person uses the same subscription.
With “Ted Lasso” returning, new dramas landing through spring and summer, and more live sports joining the service, Apple TV has become a fuller package than many people may remember.
